Pathways After Math: Exploring Career Opportunities for BS Mathematics Graduates

October 03, 2025: The School of Mathematics and Computer Science, IBA Karachi in collaboration with SHMA Consulting, organized an enlightening session titled “Pathways After Math: Career Opportunities for BS Mathematics Graduates”.

Many BS Mathematics graduates are often unaware of how their analytical and problem-solving skills translate into professional roles across industries such as finance, actuarial science, data analytics, and risk management. Such initiatives bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, providing students with clarity about career pathways, required skill sets, and industry expectations.

The session featured professionals from SHMA Consulting, Senior Consultant Mr. Faizan Haider, Actuarial Analyst Ms. Areeba Arif, Senior Actuarial Analyst Mr. Aly Altaf , and Manager, Actuarial Services Mr. Umar Irshad. The speakers shared their experiences and insights into the evolving field of actuarial sciences and discussed how mathematics graduates can transform analytical skills into valuable industry expertise.
