SMCS Organized Reimagining Operating Systems Teaching Workshop

February 6, 2026: The School of Mathematics and Computer Science (SMCS), IBA Karachi, organized the Reimagining Operating Systems Teaching workshop, bringing together faculty members from leading universities across Pakistan, including National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Institute of Business Management, Hamdard University, Bahria University Karachi Campus, GU TECH (Ghazali University School of Technology), Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU), Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology (KIET), NED University of Engineering and Technology, Salim Habib University, and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology, along with Dean Dr. Shakeel Khoja and Chairperson Dr. Shahid Hussain.

Led by Dr. Salman Zaffar, the session focused on strengthening systems education through curriculum alignment, pedagogical enhancement, and inter-university knowledge sharing. Participants also explored plans for future hands-on engagement with the MIT xv6 teaching operating system to promote practical learning and deeper conceptual understanding.

The workshop represents a collaborative step toward strengthening computer science education and developing shared academic foundations nationwide.
