Students of Batch 2026 Wins First Place at the Allied Bank X LUMS Fintech Hackathon

October 07, 2025: The School of Mathematics and Computer Science (SMCS) at IBA Karachi proudly celebrates the achievement of Team BlockLease, comprising Ali Siddiqi (Team Captain), Rafay Ahmed, and Saad Imam all from Batch 2026 for securing 1st Place in the Early Stage Category at the Allied Bank X LUMS Fintech Hackathon 2025.

Their innovative idea, BlockLease, aims to transform Pakistan’s real estate landscape through blockchain-based tokenization, enabling individuals to invest fractionally in properties with greater transparency, accessibility, and efficiency. The concept was inspired by real challenges one of the team members faced while navigating Pakistan’s real estate market, a process often marked by limited transparency and complex procedures.

By leveraging blockchain technology and smart contracts, the platform aspires to make real estate investment more inclusive, efficient, and trustworthy, allowing individuals to invest in properties with complete transparency and ease.

The team envisions a future where real estate investment is inclusive, efficient, and secure. While the project was developed independently, they credit their Computer Science foundation at IBA Karachi for equipping them with the technical expertise, analytical mindset, and confidence to turn their vision into reality.

It was indeed a moment of pride for SMCS as Team BlockLease stood out among 2,600 applications from across Pakistan, demonstrating exceptional teamwork, innovation, and perseverance. Their success not only celebrates their individual achievement but also reflects the academic excellence and entrepreneurial spirit nurtured at SMCS.

This victory underscores SMCS’s commitment to fostering innovation-driven education, empowering students to create real-world impact through technology. With its strong curriculum, expert mentorship, and focus on emerging technologies, SMCS continues to prepare future leaders who will shape the digital transformation of Pakistan and beyond.
